5. Logistic and Supply Chain

The innovation program Logistic and Supply Chains is dictated by companies en knowledge institutions from the logistical sectors. The program has the ambition to become the European market leader in 2020. The Netherlands hopes to realize this by triple the added value in the transnational Chain- and configuration activities from 3 billion Euro in 2007 to 10 billion Euro in 2020. The innovation program needs a total investment of 67 million Euro by the public private partnership (industry, knowledge institutions and government. The Ministries of Economic Affairs and Transportation and Public Works and Watermanagement have allocated 25 million Euro for four years running from 2009 through 2013.

The program focus mainly on research and development of knowledge and innovation within the three innovation themes: Cross Chain Control Center, Service Logistics and a Directive of the Transportation Mobility and Information Stream at main ports and major junctions. The Nederlands Top Institute for Supply Chain Management (the supply Chain Campus) performs R&D to new innovative concepts for chain management and chain configuration. The institute also offers education and training for professionals.
